Welcome to my baking blog

Well, here is my New Year's Resolution! I have always been told I should start a baking blog, and truly, it’s always something I've wanted to do myself. My resolution for 2012 is to keep a baking blog by posting some of my favorite and personal recipes. My plans for this blog are simple - easy baking. I find that a lot of people are intimidated by baking, so I am here to show you, step-by-step, that baking is easy and very fun. We have all burned cookies, forgotten the sugar, and even thrown out an entire batch of something that looked beautiful online. I hope you enjoy!

Welcome To My Kitchen

Today, I want to give everyone a tour of my favorite room in my house....the KITCHEN! When Greg and I bought our house 2 years ago, the first thing I wanted to do was redo the kitchen. I hope you enjoy the tour, and maybe you'll learn a little about me in the process.

Do I dare show the BEFORE pictures...eek!

The kitchen wasn't too bad, but it just didn't feel like mine.  I have a few pictures to show you around my kitchen now, and the little things Greg and I have done to make it ours.

Welcome to my kitchen!

We will start here - my favorite thing in my house!  I love my Kitchen-Aid mixer, it is whats behind a lot of my baking inspiration. It makes baking so easy, and so fun. I always leave mine out because I use it multiple times a week.

Next, we built a new desk where that awful white cabinet used to sit. Here is where I sit and update my blog, pull up recipes to follow, and store some of my favorite cookbooks.

These are the two corners of the desk. On the right, I've decorated this little corner to remember our mothers. Greg and I both lost our mothers within a couple of years of getting married. I have little reminders all over my house for the both of them. The angel on the left is for Greg's mother, Diane. She loved sunflowers. The one in the middle is for my mother and the one of the right is called 'surrounded by love.'  Greg and I discovered very quickly that we are surrounded by love, from our mothers, families, and friends.  I also have a little quote about kindness, which many others can be found throughout my house.  My mother was always big on kindness, while Greg's mother was always reminding us 'To do the right thing.'  So this is just a little, peaceful corner of my kitchen that makes me think of them.

This is the other corner of my desk, no story behind these, I just like the messages.

This is the widow sill about my sink. I love decorating for the holidays and always make sure this area is festive!  I really enjoy standing at my sink and looking out into the soy bean field as the sun sets.

This is my sink drain!  Cute right?  I have a slight obsession with pigs, although I've been able to control it a little more over the years.  I used to show hogs in 4H and think they are so cute! Not a lot of pork being eaten in my house! haha

These are some of my most recent race medals. Running in races is something I have enjoyed since college. I find them to be very inspiring! The horseshoe is one of the more unique medals; it came from the Plain City 4 miler.

These are two magnets that are displayed on my fridge. Again, 'Kindness' shows up a lot around my house.

Again, another pig!  This is a cute little piggy bank that sits on the corner.

Not a lot to my kitchen, but like I said..its mine! I really enjoy baking for other people, and I'm very blessed to have such a comfortable and relaxing kitchen to do it in.  Thanks for visiting! Have a great Sunday!
